The course consists of two theoretical lectures plus a practical lecture of 4 hours. Attendance of the theoretical lectures is voluntarily, the presence at the practical lecture is however obligatory in order to pass the course.

  • Wi-Fi Alliance Topologies of Wireless Networks
  • Optional:
    • Ad-hoc Networks vs. Infrastructure-based Wireless Networks
    • Security in WLANs (Risks, Intrusion Mechanisms, Availability, Anonymity, Authentification, Authorization, Trust and Integrity)
    • Encryption (Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP), Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA), WPA2 PSK (IEEE 802.11i), WPA2 Enterprise (802.1X, Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP), RADIUS)
    • Wireless Body Area Networks (WBAN) / Personal Area Networks (WPAN) - Wireless Metropolitan Area Networks (WMAN) - Cellular Networks (GSM (GPRS, EDGE), UMTS (HSDPA, HSUPA))
